From the Texas tour earlier this year to the recent Istanbul concert and now with the comeback EP Growing Pain pt.1 : FREE, it’s been a very busy 2025 for YOUNG POSSE. Could you start by introducing yourselves and sharing how everyone has been?
Sunhye
Hello, this is YOUNG POSSE. We recently wrapped up our comeback promotions for our song “FREESTYLE”. In the meantime, we’ve been gaining new experiences, practicing, and diving straight into preparing for our next songs.
Yeonjung
Hi!! I’m YOUNG POSSE’s Yeonjung~! Throughout the comeback, I feel like I’ve grown even stronger bonds with both our fans and the members. I’ve received so much energy from that, and I’ve been channeling all of that into writing down the messages we really want to spread.
Jiana
Hello, I’m YOUNG POSSE’s Jiana. I’ve been putting a lot of work into both our comeback and practices!
Doeun
Hi, it's YOUNG POSSE’s Doeun. As we wrapped up with some of the bigger schedules, I’ve been getting back to focusing more on practicing. I’ve also been trying to carry over the energy from this comeback to other tracks and performances.
Jieun
Hello! This is YOUNG POSSE’s Jieun! I’ve been practicing while reflecting on everything I’ve felt during our recent “FREESTYLE” promotion!

From your debut track “MACARONI CHEESE” to “ATE THAT”, “COLD (feat. 10CM)”, and now releaseing music videos for both “FREESTYLE” and “YSSR” in yet another very distinctive style, you’re drawing eyes once again. Were there any memorable behind the scenes moments you could tell us, and can you guys share your favorite time stamps from the video?
Sunhye
The aliens, which were also the biggest highlight of the video, definitely left the strongest impression on me. They must have been really tired as the masks made it hard to breathe, tough to see, and the strong rubber smell didn’t make it any easier. Even with all those challenges, they stayed in character and played along with us which was super fun.
Yeonjung
It was fascinating that the “FREESTYLE” video was shot entirely without a green screen. The scene filmed in the ballroom was the most memorable for me! (2:12–2:23)
Jiana
The most memorable part for me was the parking lot scene where Yeonjung and I butted our heads in a fight. Since it was one of the last scenes we filmed on the first day, it felt especially more enjoyable. (0:34–0:36)
Doeun
My favorite scene from the "FREESTYLE” music video is when Yeonjung and Jiana go head to head for a fight. It was so cute to watch and it stuck with me the most! (0:34–0:36)
Jieun
When I sang my part ‘I’ll do it my way~~,’ I was upside down on an inversion table — and that was definitely the most memorable shot for me! (1:55–1:57)
Now that the group is entering its second year since debut, the members are gradually becoming adults. This theme is reflected both throughout “soju”, “School’s Out”, and the EP as a whole. Over time, what changes have you noticed in yourselves as artists, or what new realizations have you come to?
Sunhye
Lately I’ve felt an even greater need for experimenting with creative processes, so I’ve been trying to take on new challenges.
Doeun
I feel like there’s so much more I want to do now. If previously I've only focused on the stage in front of me, these days I have a stronger desire to grow and become even “cooler”. Both musically and personally, I do feel the need to keep improving.
The members have been more and more involved in the lyrics with every comeback. Are there any lines from this EP that you’d especially like fans to pay attention to? And were there any lyrics that didn’t make it into the final tracks that you guys would like to share?”
Yeonjung
Yeonjung
Personally, I hope listeners pay close attention to the final track, “Same Shit, Another One,” since I poured a lot of meaning into the lyrics. Because I was much more involved this time, quite a few lines didn’t make the final cut, but I’d love to share them in the future!
Jiana
The lyrics in “ADHD” might not come through clearly on the first listen—but that was totally intentional, haha. I hope listeners check them out more closely. They’re absolutely ridiculous and fun.
Jiana
Jieun
Are there any details or hidden elements from this EP—whether in the sound, lyrics, or others—that we may have missed the first time around, but you’d like us to notice?
Yeonjung
If you listen to the EP track by track while following along with the lyrics, I think you’ll enjoy it even more! As the title suggests, the project captures our own growing pains, and I’d love for listeners to really take in the lyrics as they go through it.
Jieun
In track 7, “Same Shit, Another One” you’ll hear a variety of ad libs. Paying attention to them should uncover a whole new layer!
Who are your role models and are there artists that the members may want to work with in the future?
Sunhye
As an artist, my role model is Rihanna. I want to emulate her poise and influence. And since we focus on hip-hop, I’d like to work with a lot of other rappers as well. I’d also like to collaborate with Homies, as I’ve followed along and practiced their songs since my trainee days.
Yeonjung
Since I love BIBI sunbaenim’s vibe and I often watch and practice her performances, I’d definitely want to work with her! I’ve also liked and practiced Doja Cat’s and Ice Spice’s songs for a long time so if I get the chance, I’d love to meet them!
Jiana
My role models are Ariana Grande and IU sunbaenim! And as YOUNG POSSE, I’d love for us to collaborate with BIBI sunbaenim!
Doeun
I don’t really have a set role model, but I've been listening to Sik-K and Effie a lot and if I get the chance, I’d love to work with them. However, I still have so much to learn, so I’d like to take things step by step.
Jieun
My role model is BIBI sunbaenim! I’d like to pull off various concepts and genres and become a great artist like her!
What would YOUNG POSSE look like in 5 years? Are there any stages or countries you’d particularly want to perform in? And how would you like this current period of YOUNG POSSE to be remembered as?
Sunhye
We haven’t had the chance to tour Europe yet, so that’s definitely on my list. As for stages, I’d love to perform at festivals like Coachella or Lollapalooza, but I also hope to fill Jamsil Olympic Stadium (South Korea) with a YOUNG POSSE solo concert. Looking back, I want this period to be remembered as a time when we gave it our all with no regrets.
Jiana
No matter what form we take, we want to be a team that leaves a positive impression. Many Brazilian fans told us during our video call events that they hope we’ll come!! So I’d like to perform in Brazil someday. When I look back from the future, I want YOUNG POSSE to be remembered as a truly iconic hip-hop group!
Lastly, could you please share a verse for Teleposse and for those who will get to know YOUNG POSSE in the future.
Jiana
‘Why even bother with art, If you're just mimicking and taking apart?’ (from YOUNG POSSE’s XXL)
Doeun
I’ll choose the line from “FREESTYLE”, ‘I’ll do it my way~~.’ As we’ve done, we’ll continue moving forward in our way.
